Meet Karen

When I was seventeen years old, I had no clue what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I was raised knowing I’d be sent to college and never stopped to question that option. I also had no sense of what I wanted to study. 

I have a sister who’s two years older than I, and I used to wish I had her self-assurance and sense of identity. From the time we were little, she knew she wanted to be a teacher. For her, it was all she’d ever wanted. Kids have always been naturally drawn to her and she did, in fact, grow up to be a wonderful teacher. 

I didn’t have her sense of direction, but that didn’t stop me from flying. And I mean that literally. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and using it for just one year, I dropped the retail career path and spent the next 18 years working happily as a flight attendant. 

An on-the-job injury left me out of work for two years. As I was ready to return, fate gave me a gift. The airline I worked for offered me a buy-out, and I took it. Soon after, I stumbled upon “The Passion Test”, and I knew I’d found my calling!

In 2009 I became a Certified Passion Test Facilitator, personally trained by Passion Test pioneers Janet Bray Attwood and Chris Attwood. I took those teachings to heart, and I loved the profound effect this simple yet powerful process had on people – particularly my two teenage kids. 

When the “Passion Test 4 Kids and Teens” program was developed in 2010, I got certified and was on my way to helping our youth discover who they’re meant to be in the world. 

I live in beautiful Colorado with my partner Mike, and I’m a mother of two young adults who are living their passions. My son Eric is attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, studying engineering and snowboarding every chance he gets. My daughter Kirsten is realizing her dream of being a professional model, traveling the world and working with a top agency in New York. She’s more than just a model – she’s a role model for following your bliss. I’m so proud of them both.
